It was established by Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru of Sikhism, as a place of political and spiritual authority. The Akal Takhat Sahib serves as the central governing body for Sikh religious affairs and is the symbol of Sikh sovereignty and activism.
Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib: Situated in the holy city of Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, India, Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib holds great historical and religious importance. It was founded by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhism, and is the birthplace of the Khalsa. Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib is where the Guru initiated the first Five Beloved Ones into the Khalsa brotherhood in 1699.
