The first tour was eastward, towards Bengal and Assam; the second was southward, towards Sri Lanka; the third was northward, towards Kashmir, Ladakh, and Tibet; and the fourth was westward, towards Baghdad, Mecca, and Medina on the Arabian Peninsula.
